Laser during your period is medically safe. What changes is comfort — hormonal shifts in the week before and during menstruation crank up skin sensitivity, so the same settings that felt like a warm tap at mid-cycle can feel like a snap.
What actually shifts in the pre-menstrual week
Inflammation markers are higher. Pain tolerance drops. Skin holds more water, which slightly changes how the laser energy scatters. Nothing dangerous — it just means the experience is different.
Practical call
- Reschedule sensitive-area sessions (upper lip, bikini) if they fall in your pre-menstrual week
- Non-sensitive areas (legs, arms) — continue as scheduled
- Numbing cream 30 minutes before sensitive-area sessions helps
- Skip caffeine on the day — it lowers pain tolerance further
- Morning slots tend to be more comfortable than evenings
Hygiene — bikini during flow
Most clinics (including us) recommend rescheduling bikini or Brazilian sessions during heavy flow days, for comfort and hygiene. Light flow with a tampon is fine if you prefer not to delay.
