What are fillers? How many types of fillers are there?

Fillers are performed by dermatologists on women's lips

Fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contours, providing a more youthful appearance. This treatment targets signs of aging, such as fine lines, sagging skin, and loss of volume, by replenishing the skin's natural substances that diminish over time, particularly hyaluronic acid.

Types of fillers

Volume Fillers - Volume Fillers are cosmetic injectables used to restore volume and fullness to various areas of the face. These fillers are typically composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body.

Shape Fillers - Shape fillers can be used to achieve a variety of aesthetic goals, such as enhancing cheekbones, creating a more angular jawline, or balancing facial symmetry. Shape fillers, also known as contouring fillers or sculpting fillers, are a type of dermal filler used to enhance and define facial features by adding volume and reshaping specific areas.

Hydration Fillers - Hydration fillers help to hydrate and volumize the skin from within, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and dullness. They can be used on various areas of the face, including the lips, cheeks, and under-eye area, to restore moisture and promote a more youthful and radiant complexion.

Do you need Fillers?

Before and after Filler treatment results

Ofcourse, fillers are the ongoing trend. Some love them, some are apprehensive. However, fillers are a medical procedure being done since a very long time in the aesthetic industry. While we don't understand the taboo behind fillers, it is very important that you get them because you need them, not because its a trend.

As we age, our skin loses elasticity and volume, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and sagging. Fillers help to:

  • Restore lost volume and fullness
  • Smooth out fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enhance facial features (e.g., lips, cheeks)
  • Improve skin hydration and texture

Concern Areas

Fillers can be used to treat various areas, including:

Lips: For volume and definition

Cheeks: To restore youthful fullness

Nasolabial Folds: To smooth out lines from the nose to the mouth

Marionette Lines: To reduce the appearance of sagging around the mouth

Under-Eye Area: To address hollowness and dark circles

What is the procedure of getting fillers?

Women satisfied with Filler treatment results

The filler procedure typically involves:

  1. Consultation: A thorough assessment of your skin and discussion of your goals.
  2. Preparation: The treatment area is cleaned, and a topical anesthetic may be applied to minimize discomfort.
  3. Injection: Using a fine needle, the filler is injected into targeted areas. The process usually takes 15 to 30 minutes.
  4. Post-Treatment Care: Instructions will be provided to ensure optimal results and minimize side effects.

Benefits

  1. Immediate Results: Most patients see instant improvements in their appearance.
  2. Minimal Downtime: Many people can return to their daily activities right after treatment.
  3. Long-Lasting Effects: Depending on the type of filler, results can last from 6 months to 2 years.

Side Effects of Fillers

While fillers are extremely safe when done by a doctor, some potential side effects include:

  • Bruising or swelling at the injection site
  • Redness or tenderness

These go away within a day or week.

Lip Fillers — Cost, Types & What to Expect

Lip fillers at Uncover start from ₹14,999 for a 1ml hydration-focused filler and ₹29,999 for a volume or shape filler. What you actually need depends on your starting lip anatomy and what you're asking for — more hydration and plumpness, or a deliberate shape change.

We use hyaluronic-acid fillers exclusively for lips — they're reversible with hyaluronidase if you change your mind, and they integrate with your natural tissue rather than sitting on top of it. The result looks natural because the filler is the same molecule your lips already produce, just in a higher concentration.

Most first-time lip filler patients land in a place where friends notice you look refreshed but can't quite say what changed. That's the Uncover philosophy — refresh, don't alter. We always under-fill on session one and ask you back at 2 weeks if you want more.

Lip fillers typically last 9–12 months. After 2–3 consistent sessions, many patients find the results hold longer because the tissue structure has been primed.

Under-Eye & Tear Trough Fillers

Tear trough filler is the most requested treatment at Uncover after lip filler. It targets the hollow under the eye that deepens with age — and can exist even in your 20s if you've inherited it. Done correctly, it makes the under-eye area look rested instead of hollowed or tired.

Tear trough is a technically demanding area. The filler sits close to the orbital bone and near the infraorbital vessel. This is one area we strongly recommend only seeing a dermatologist for — not a cosmetologist, not a salon. Complications are rare but serious when they happen.

Expect: 0.5ml–1ml per eye. Cost typically ₹14,999–₹24,999. Results last 9–18 months. Mild initial swelling for 48 hours is normal; final result settles at 2 weeks.

What tear trough filler can and can't fix: it addresses volume loss and hollowing. It does not fix dark pigmentation under the eye — that's a separate issue often treated with laser or topical prescriptions. We diagnose both at consultation.

Cheek Fillers — Mid-Face Volume & Lift

Cheek fillers do two things — they restore lost volume on the cheekbones (the main reason mid-face sags in your 40s), and they visually lift the lower face without needing a surgical facelift.

Starting point: ₹29,999 for 1ml. Most plans use 2–4ml total over one or two sessions, depending on how much volume restoration is needed. Results last 12–18 months.

We place cheek filler deep on the bone (supraperiosteal) for lift, or in the subcutaneous layer for softer volume. Your dermatologist will recommend the right plane based on your anatomy — over-filled superficial cheeks are the classic 'done' look we specifically avoid.

Jawline & Chin Fillers — Definition Without Surgery

Jawline filler defines the angle of the mandible and, in combination with chin filler, can sharpen the lower face meaningfully. This is a growing request for men as well as women — a defined jawline reads as fit and aligned, regardless of actual age.

Typical plan: 2–4ml combined across jawline + chin. Cost ₹45,000–₹85,000 depending on total volume. Results last 12–18 months.

For patients wanting a more dramatic jawline shift, we often combine filler with masseter botox — the botox softens the sides of the jaw, and the filler defines the angle. Two complementary interventions, natural-looking composite result.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty (nose filler) is also available at Uncover. It corrects bumps, droopy tips, and mild asymmetry using the same reversible hyaluronic-acid fillers. Not a replacement for surgical rhinoplasty for major structural changes — but for refinement, it's a lower-risk option.
